A few years ago, “DevOps” was the buzzword on everyone’s lips. It promised faster software delivery, fewer handoffs, and more empowered teams.
It had a big idea:
"You build it, you run it."
That meant engineers weren't just responsible for writing code, they were now responsible for running it in production, fixing it when it broke, and keeping it secure and scalable.
And while that shift helped break down walls between development and operations, it also created a problem nobody fully anticipated: cognitive overload.
